HARTFORD, CONN., December 2, 2014 – Group tour operators and tour guides who cater to leisure travelers from across the U.S., and as far away as China, India and Europe, recently visited Connecticut’s Capital City for a first-hand look at what the area offers visitors. 5Star CT, a consortium of five world-class Greater Hartford attractions within 20-minutes from one another, hosted its first-ever FAM (Familiarization) Tour for group tour operators. The five tourism destinations – the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford’s Nook Farm neighborhood, the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford, the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, and the New Britain Museum of American Art – united a portion of their marketing efforts two years ago to create 5Star CT in order to promote and increase day trip and overnight experiences of group tours visiting the region.
During the daylong FAM Tour, a DATTCO coach bus transported two dozen tourism industry representatives from Boston-based Sunshine Travel, Travelwalk Corp. in Albany, and Landmark Tours & Cruises of Southwick, Mass. to all five attractions for guided tours, as well as sightseeing information of scenic nearby locales.
5Star CT receives additional funding from the Connecticut Office of Tourism. For more information about 5Star CT, to view a video, and learn about all five attractions, visit
